working class dictionary- help me out

Although I have to make some money and therefore a living, it's best to act in the service of the working class whenever possible.

That's why I'm starting a Working Class Dictionary.

So the idea is that here on this blog working class people can create definitions of their worlds that help us understand each other.

My first word:

Starchfast (n): The period of time before one's payday when one consumes only affordable, starch-based foods. Pasta, rice and bagels are among the traditional meals of Starchfast.

Please send your submissions. I'm sure there's a whole world of words out there. In fact, I had two more on my way to the bus, but have sadly forgotten them.

The guv- Government

Cheesewhore- low paid worker. Used in a sentence: "As if they care about me down at the warehouse. I'm just their cheesewhore."

Hey- I am not a community radio person YET. The idea has come up to start a station where I am, but supposedly no frequencies exist. Plus, I am not a member of a non-profit that I think would be a startup partner. But I am a member of my nearest station (KBOO) in Portland, and I love what community radio is to a community.

Thanks for your additions.

You should contact the good folks at the prometheus radio project - they help people in the states get community radio stations built and running, and have the legal expertise to get around the ridiculous laws you've got down there. Not that we're any better....

Starchfast is so incredibly real. Did I ever tell you my worst starchfast story? It involved washing potatoes that had been fried already.

I'm not sure about this one, but I'll toss it into the pot:

Flooral (n): Paintings created by the redistribution of surface dirt on the lowest-grade linoleum floor in one's kitchen. The ingrained dirt from the previous decades' work provides the primer. Mediums in the form of cleaning products offer temporary matte or gloss finish, however as solvents are extremely ineffectual.
